Forward to Katja's elevation...

Chris' webpage...

This is the story of how I became a Peer in the SCA. (It's one of the highest forms of recognition you can achieve in this international nonprofit education group.)

I knew
something was going on when a lot of folks kept asking me if I was going to this specific event... and Eric did a number of things out of the ordinary (like bringing our camera), and then Devon showed up at the event, which was a loooong way from home.

Yup, the original Evil Overlord himself, otherwise known as my mentor / Pelican / "da Boss" (right) stood up in court and asked Their Majesties Rurik & Elspeth to "give me the bird"...

Dame Katja Davidova Orlova Khazarina

   Writ
AEthelmearc Twelfth Night
January 13, 2003
Shire of Sunderoak
My expression (right) when I saw the GORGEOUS writ by Mistress Yvianne. Behind me are Mistress Arianna and Mistress Genevieve.

Above is the scroll. It's real parchment, with hand-ground inks.

Below, a rather dazed Katja...
His Majesty informing me that I had two months to consider accepting my elevation to the Peerage.

From left: me, Her Highness Maurya, His Majesty Rurik, and His Excellency Devon.

The retainer behind Her Highness is Lady Ysabell Graver.
                       The Official Court Report
Her Ladyship Katja Davidova Orlova Khazarina was brought into the Royal Presence at the request of Baron Devon Adair Bartholomy. Their Majesties spoke to her about her work as Kingdom Archivist and her work as a cook, as well as her teaching and research into all aspects of food. Their Majesties then called for Their Most Noble Order of the Pelican.

A Writ was read, and Her Ladyship was commanded to sit
Vigil at the Festival of the Passing of the Ice Dragon, and to answer such questions as Their Majesties may ask at the conclusion of said Vigil.

Writ scroll by Mistress Yvianne de Castel d'Avignon.
